Cambridge’s Red Devils maintained their unbeaten start to the season with this impressive win against Hamilton’s Eastern Suburbs.
With the weather turning bad, the visitors took the lead after 10 minutes.
But as the rain dropped, so did the penny for the Devils and they started to push forward.
Adrian Walworth levelled the scores with a 20-metre stunner.
The rain eased as the sides turned round and the Devils started to push forward in the second spell.
On the hour, Dave O’Donnell put the home team ahead with a header into the top left corner of the net.
The Devils midfield took control for the final half hour, with Jodie Hardinge and Gary Kelk putting through some excellent balls for Andrew Taylor and Ben Feaver to finish.
After several attacks, Cambridge scored their final goal through Feaver.
Top performances came from Walworth, Mike Alton and Greg Zeuren while Player of the Day was Lance ‘Truck’ Smith.
Next Sunday the Devils are at home to Waikato Cambodian Phoenix, kicking off at 1pm at John Kerkhof Park.

The first game in the Scottish Cup draw saw home team Cambridge Red Devils evils take maximum points and advance to the next round.
The first 45 minutes saw both teams shooting and pushing hard for first goal glory but through strong defence of both teams yielded 0-0 at the break.
After the half time talk, Cambridge’s supporters saw the home team take the lead with some classical through balls from midfielder Greg Zeuren for Eddie Roberts to latch onto and finish in true Devils style.
Ten minutes later these two paired up again and found the opposition’s weakness to make it 2-0.
The visitors pinched one back in the 75th minute by slipping one passed agile keeper Dion Anderson.
With true Devils spirit, they dug deep by bringing on West Ham signing Neil Evans who fed our flying Eddie Roberts to slot his first hat-trick for 2013.
Player of the Day was Eddie Roberts with strong games from Lance Smith, Hayden Curin and Gary Kelk.
Devils’ next game is the 5th May at 1pm against Eastern Suburbs at home.
