Cambridge adds another title to its impressive season

Cambridge’s WaiBOP Premiership-winning team has added another title to its successful 2017 season.

The team has been named Waipa’s Sports Team of the Year at the district’s annual awards night held at the Te Awamutu Events Centre.

Collecting the award with captain Patrick Woodlock and coach Mike Woodlock, club chairman and assistant coach Steve Thomas said the award capped an outstanding year for the team and club.

By winning the Waipa award, the team now becomes a nominee for the Waikato Sports Team of the Year which will be announced at the Claudelands Events Centre, Hamilton, on February 1.

The latest accolade for the team joins:

- The Loaded WaiBOP Premiership title.
- The WaiBOP Federation Challenge shield.
- Winner of the Northern League Promotion play-off series.

Cambridge FC were also nominated in four other categories at the Waipa Networks Sports Awards – Club of the Year, Coach of the Year (Mike Woodlock), Administrator of the Year (Steve Thomas) and Sportsman of the Year (Patrick Woodlock).

Meanwhile, the team is already planning its 2018 Northern League campaign with a meeting on November 23 for returning players and players interested in joining the club for next season.
