Club nominated for series of sports awards
Cambridge FC will feature at this year’s Waipa Sports Awards having been nominated for club, team and individual performances.The awards, to be announced at a dinner at the Te Awamutu Events Centre on Monday November 13, will include nominations for:
• Cambridge FC, for Waipa Sports Club of the Year.
• Cambridge’s WaiBOP Premiership title-winning team, for Waipa Sports Team of the Year.
• Coach Mike Woodlock, for Waipa Coach of the Year.
• First team captain Patrick Woodlock, for Waipa Sportsperson of the Year.
• Club chairman Steve Thomas, for Waipa Sports Administrator of the Year.
Cambridge won the Waipa Sports Club of the Year in 2014 and 2015.
The awards dinner will be MC’d by Olympic cyclist Sarah Ulmer and James McOnie, from television’s The Crowd Goes Wild.
Guest speaker will be Simon van Velthooven who was one of the world’s best track cyclists before switching to yachting and becoming a member of Team New Zealand’s America’s Cup crew.
Members and supporters of Cambridge FC are invited to attend the awards evening for which tickets are available at $50 per person. Price includes dinner and welcome drinks for a mix and mingle at 6.30pm.
Dress code is smart and guests have access to a cash bar.

The club is hoping to fill at least two tables of eight.
In recent years, the club has strongly supported the awards night, sponsored by Waipa Networks, regardless of whether the club or individuals were nominated for awards.
It’s a chance to have a great night out and celebrate how strong sport is in Waipa.
