Wood scores on home debut for Burnley

Former Cambridge player Chris Wood has continued his goalscoring form in the English Premiership with new club Burnley.

Three minutes into his home ground debut, Wood took advantage of a defender’s mistake to score what turned out to be the only goal of Burnley’s game against Crystal Palace.

It capped a great week for the striker who played his junior football at Cambridge and made his senior debut at John Kerkhof Park.

He had previously scored a sensational late goal at Wembley to give Burnley a draw against Tottenham Hotspur and then grabbed a hat-trick for the All Whites against the Solomon Islands in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
