Heavy rain disrupts plans for weekend football

All junior football is cancelled this Saturday (May 13) while pitch inspections have confirmed today's senior games will go ahead at John Kerkhof Park.

Heavy rain on Friday soaked the senior pitches but sun, a breeze and thirsty soil led to a decision that games could go ahead, including the 2pm ISPS Handa Chatham Cup tie between Cambridge and Western Springs.

Volunteers were working to dry the southern end of pitch 1 for the cup tie and a decision will be made at 1pm which pitches to use for this afternoon's four senior games.

Junior mascots are still required for the cup tie. To be a mascot, and walk onto the pitch with our first team players for the kick off, parents should report to matchday manager Josh Easby no later than 1.45pm. The mascots should wear their junior kit.

Meanwhile all junior football is off, including 4th - 7th grade. This weekend’s scheduled grading fixtures for 9th - 13th/14th Grade will be played next weekend (May 20).

U-8 Girls and 8th Grade will play the fixture scheduled for May 20, and will not play the fixture scheduled for this weekend.

The WaiBOP Football website will have updated draws during the week.
