Cambridge players prosper in the United States

Cambridge FC defender Matt Wheeler continues his footballing journey in the United States having signed a two-year scholarship with Urbana University, Ohio.

Wheeler (20) will play for Urbana’s Blue Knights in the United States NCAA Division 2 after spending two seasons with Murray State College in Oklahoma.

He is one of four Cambridge players enjoying football scholarships in the United States and returning to the Waikato each winter to play for their club.

Josh Clark (21) was the first Cambridge player to head to Murray State, who play in the NCAA Division 3, and after spending two seasons there, he joined the William Woods University’s Owls in Missouri a year ago.

Two more Cambridge players, goalkeeper Cameron Horsfall and midfielder Kyle Wisnewski, are in their second year with Murray States’ Aggies team.
