Season gets underway at Taupo

Cambridge starts its new WaiBOP Premiership title campaign at the home of newly promoted Taupo this weekend.

The club’s first team travels to Crown Park for a 2.45pm Saturday kick off against Taupo who were promoted from the WaiBOP Championship at the end of last season.

Cambridge, who finished runners-up in last season’s Premiership, are keen to get their season underway with a win on the road but will expect a tough opener.

Taupo is coached by Kale Herbert, son of Cambridge’s technical director, Ricki Herbert, giving the match another element of interest.

The match will follow a WaiBOP Championship game between Taupo and Cambridge, kicking off at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Cambridge Men’s A team begin their season against West Hamilton’s Reserves at Weka St.

Our B team travel to Waihi’s Morgan Park, while our D1s play at West Hamilton and our D2 side visits Tokoroa.

Our women’s first team play at Melville United on Sunday (1pm) while our newly-created second team are at home to Mangokino (11am).

The club’s new U-12 boys’ federation team kick off their WaiBOP fixtures with a home game against Tauranga’s Blue Rovers at John Kerkhof Park on Sunday (10am kick off).
