New Coaches - Great Progress Made

New Coaches - Great Progress Made

Our club is revamping its coaching structure in line with a five-year plan to achieve success at first team and youth team levels.

Cambridge FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Stu Dunbar as its first team coach for the 2011 Northern League season.

Stu, who previously coached Hamilton Wanderers’ reserves, joins our club with an excellent pedigree as a player and a coach who likes to develop young talent.

In his playing days, he played National League football for Dunedin City, Nelson United and Manurewa.

His appointment is a key step in the club’s establishment of a youth development pathway, enabling the club’s most talented juniors to progress through the playing ranks and into first team football. He will work closely with Josh Easby, who continues in his role as first team manager.

The first team will also be boosted by the addition of defender Simon Mead, a former Cambridge player who has been coaching full time internationally and most recently in Brazil. Simon has returned to New Zealand to take up a full time development role with the WaiBop Federation.

Marc Thomas has been appointed as the Federation 2 Team Coach to help develop our U19 youth players and create rising stars for the first team.

First team midfielder Scott Parsonage, a Level 2 qualified coach, will be responsible for coaching the club’s Under 15 team in a proposed Waikato League.

Our first team plays in the Northern League and will also be supported next season by a senior men’s Reserves Team competing in the Waikato League.

We still seek expressions of interest for the positions of:

* Reserve Team Coach
* Youth Development Manager

The Youth Development Manager will work with the Federation 2 Coach to help identify talented players among our 400+ junior players and helping them progress through our coaching system into our youth-focused Federation 2 team. This role will work closely with our coaches to help develop our up and coming talent. The position description can be viewed in our "Downloads" section.
